It has become a real mystry from me now. What is actually a google gray bar? For somesites you may also have seen that a gray bar is executed by the toolbar or page rank checker. I also got one gray bar for one of my site which actually made me interested to take some look into the issue. But unfortunately i haven’t find any real solution of it. Some people are saying that if there is no indexed pages in google for one site then it will owe a gray bar. Even i have found some guys in webmasterworld who are saying that, a gray bar means the site has been banned from google. There are really so many contradiction regarding this issue and i haven’t found anyone who can strictly clarify that a Google Pagerank Gray bar means something which is proved.

So both things can be happened, but most probably this issue happens when one site change his IP and google gives dance. So google needs some time to get the informations about the IP propogation of a site. And thats why your Indexed files might get into the Supplemental list, and it can cause a gray bar for your site in google pagerank.

Still i have no clear idea what does that gray bar mean, but as you can assume, i m also having assumption regarding this topic

According to me two things can be happened. One, the site is banned in google (For different reason can be like keyword spamming or temporary ban for C class change) either his site is a brand new one.
